We announce the death of Diane Lee Smeltzer of Fergus, Ontario, who passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 72. Diane will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Ouimette and Alfreda Ouimette; and her brothers, Ernie (Cathy) and Jim (Peg). She is survived by: her husband Jack; her children, Steven Smeltzer (Melissa), Sherry Fletcher and Michelle Gama (Mason); her grandchildren, Brayden, Logan, Jackson, Maya, Payton and Tenley; her siblings, Jerry Ouimette (Elizabeth), Susan Duffield (late Albert), Roseanne Harrop (Dave), John Paul Ouimette (Judy) and Donald Ouimette; and her in-laws, Glenn Smeltzer (late Shirley), Gail Rennie (late Rob), Helen Fisher (Dennis) and Diane. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St David St S, Fergus, ON N1M2L5). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Belsyde Cemetery (400 Thistle St, Fergus, ON N1M, Canada). A reception was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 12:20 PM to 1:50 PM at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St David St S, Fergus, ON N1M2L5).
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society.
