He was predeceased by: his parents, Patience Smith and Ralph Smith; and his siblings, Stanley Smith and Doris Vey. He is survived by: his children, Ryan Smith (Alisa Murphy-Smith), Kelly Smith (Derek Smith) and Tracy McKay (Jeff McKay); the parent of his children Pat Kelly; his grandchildren, Kaili, Liam, Claire, Sophia, Beckett and Felix; and his sisters, Clarice Spurrell and Marion Spurrell. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
