He was predeceased by: his wife Karen; his sister Marilyn Beattie; and his daughter-in-law Nancy Beattie. He is survived by: his children, Keith Beattie and Brenda Mochrie (Rob); his brother Ross Beattie (Linda); his grandchildren, Nick (Kristy), Drew (Breana), Spencer (Tabitha) and Barbara (Prentice); and his great grandchildren, Beckham and Tessa.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St David St S, Fergus, ON N1M2L5). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (325 St George St W, Fergus, ON N1M1J4). A reception was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

“I first met Bill in 1951 when we both entered Fergus District high School in Grade 9. He came from a farm near Elora and I rode a school bus from Belwood. I was very impressed with Bill's piano-playing. He shared his music in the upper hall over noon hour. In the years that followed I had the pleasure of attending some of the parties he played for. He had a great personality and an exceptional ability to entertain and welcome people. We will miss him! Elgin Wolfe”
