He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest Carter and Millicent Carter; his siblings, Ernest Carter Jr., Anthony Carter and Linda Carter; and his sister-in-law Lynda Bruder.

He is survived by : his spouse Sharmane Carter of Formosa; his children, Jeff Carter of Chesley and Tammy Fortune (Kirk) of Chesley; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Carter, Matthew Carter, Brooklyn, Hailey and Madison Fortune; and his siblings, Cathy McKinney (Dennis) of Comox, B. C., William Carter (Effie) of London, Robert Carter (Emma) of London and Bruce Carter of Kincardine.
