He was predeceased by: his brothers, Franklin Steger and Donald Steger; and his parents, Catharine Steger and Jacob Steger. He is survived by: his wife Maryann Steger; his children, Laura Ann Mueller (Edward), Maryann Lovering (Donald) and Robert Philip Steger; his grandchildren, Gregory, Stephen (Kristin), Mathew, Denon and Megan; and his sister Carol Simpson (Hugh).
