He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlotte Wells and Herbert Wells; his former wife Harriet; his son William; his siblings, Edith, Evelyne and Lawrence; his nephew Scott; his great-niece Karen; and his brothers-in-law, Clayton, Ross and Earl.

He is survived by: his wife Nell; his daughter Susan Weum (Brad); his stepchildren, Nioma, Buck, Gary, Terralyne Holden, Valerie Shelton, Judith Dubuc, Lori Herseth, Charlotte Gordon (Bernard) and Darlene Lanning; and his nephews, Wade Power and Ron Lanning. He is also survived by many cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.
