He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie; and his father Harold Thomas. He is survived by: his son Craig; his grandsons, Gary, Brent, Paul and Mark; his son Darryl (Coralee); his daughter-in-law Debbie (late Craig); his stepsons, Gary (Bettina), Paul (Patty) and Mark; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy, Adam (Jayda), Tyler, Tonya, Sean (Melissa), Dustin, Rio (Kaleigh) and Carter; and his sister Diana. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
