She was predeceased by: her husband Bill Steel; her parents, Morley McMichael and Della McMichael (Doig); and her siblings, Marie Davidson, Isabelle Bremner, Ken McMichael and Andy McMichael.
She is survived by: her son Doug (Chris Sprague) of Guelph; and her sisters-in-law, Mary McIntosh of Wingham, Lina Steel of Sudbury and Betty McDonagh of Lucknow. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Dublin Chapel (252 Dublin St N, Guelph, ON N1H4P3). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A reception was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Alma to the Guelph General Hospital Foundation, Knox Presbyterian Church, or the University of Guelph Arboretum would be appreciated by the family.
