Mary Johanna Cremasco Obituary

Mary, in her 99th year, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family members on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Mary was the beloved wife of Victor Cremasco for over 50 years until Victor's passing in 2003. Mary will be missed by her 8 children - Daniel (Helen), Rick (Colleen), LeeAnn Mann (Jeff), Sharon Fish (Norm Vallieres), Dennis (Jayne), Rodney, Philip (Paula) and Elissa Dunford (Steve). Cherished Grammie of 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her very special grandson Lewis Cremasco on June 24, 2025.

Mary was born in Josephsburg, Ontario (near St. Agatha) to Peter and Clara Dietrich. She was number 7 of 15 children. On the farm Mom's job was cleaning and helping with the younger children. Her father said she was so enthusiastic about her job that she even swept the grass. She is survived by her youngest sister - Carol Paul of BC. She will be remembered by in-laws Grace, Gloria, Vern Starra, Frank Turner and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by siblings and their spouses Gord (Marion), Harold (Audrey), Wilfred (Ellen), Clare (Olive), Lorraine Lipskie (Elmer), Carl (Evelyn), Edward (Shirley), Alfred (Loreen), Hubert (Rosie), Howard, Clayton, Rita Starra and Peter (Mary Pat). Also, by in-laws Tony and Della, Aldo, Louie and Marie Cremasco, Rita Turner, Marie and Angelo DaMaren.

Mom was a quiet, hard-working woman who always spoke well of others. She was a devout Catholic and attended Church of Our Lady for many years and later St. Joseph's Church, where she was an active member of the C.W.L.

Vic and Mary enjoyed many summers at their cottage in Sauble Beach. When Mary wasn't playing scrabble, cribbage or euchre, she enjoyed the simple solitude of sitting on the patio just watching the world go by. She enjoyed watching many sports and it was no secret she was a Boston Bruins fan. Her butter tarts were always in high demand at the Dietrich family picnic.

The family would like to thank the hard working, caring PSWs who helped Mom over the last 5 years, allowing her to stay in her home. "Mama Mary" as she was affectionately known, was tenderly cared for by Martina, Rem, Maria, Halima, Gloria, Susan, Alem, Merle, Mildarose and many others. Also, thanks to the Bayshore palliative care team.

Although Mary lost some of her physical abilities, she never lost her ability to bring smiles, joy and happiness to all around her. She will be profoundly missed.

Thank you, Mom, for everything.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. — Dr. Seuss.
