He was predeceased by: his son Brian Martindale; his siblings, Bernice (Martindale) and Ken Edwards; and his siblings-in-law, Wallace Tietz, Marion and Wray Buckborough.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Martindale (Tietz); his children, Neil Martindale and Laurie Martindale (Krista); and his siblings-in-law, Marvin Mattice and Norma. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
