Antonio Angemi Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the departure of our beloved husband, father, and Nonno, Antonio Angemi. Surrounded by family, and in a beautiful, private final moment with his loving wife Vincenza, Antonio died on January 9th, 2024, at the age of 84.

Antonio was a dear and treasured son to the late Filippo and AnnaMaria Angemi, and in-laws, the late Giuseppe and Maddelana Giglietta. He was a loving and dedicated husband to Vincenza for 56 wonderful years, and cherished father to AnnMarie (Sam) Cino, and Philip (Tania Pennetti). He was a devoted and proud Nonno to Caitlin, Sophie, and Aiden. Beloved brother and brother-in-law to the late Leonardo (Carmela) Angemi, Carmela (Carmelo) Abbruzzese, Francesca (the late Pietro) Licandro, Santina (the late Raphaele) Marzilli, Carmela (the late Gino) Corda, and Maria (the late Giuseppe) Spezzano. Tony will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends who are heartbroken by this devastating loss.

Antonio arrived to Canada at the mere age of 14 to meet his Father in B.C., and devoted his life to bringing his family over from Italy and worked tirelessly alongside his father to provide them with a better life. He met the love of his life, Vincenza in 1967 after sweeping her off her feet with many romantic gestures and flowers which still remained a common occurrence. The two of them embraced so many cherished moments together over the years, raising their children and relishing in the joy of their 3 grandchildren.

Before his passing, if Tony was anything, he was a dedicated and loyal man. He was a man who always made a positive impact on those around him.

He was always present and dedicated; from his cherished son's soccer games to each of his Grandchildren's' sports events, dance recitals, and school events.

In addition, he spent special moments with his beloved daughter and daughter-law and enjoyed special quality moments with his son-in-law on regular Saturday morning bike-rides through the trails of Hamilton. He also proved his commitment and dedication in being a truck driver for the City of Hamilton. We have Tony to thank for the snow removals in the early mornings; he would miss many holidays with his family to ensure we could get to ours safely. He loved to care for his garden, dancing the twist, was an avid hunter, and would play many card games with his friends and family. He was a soft spoken but hospitable man who was always welcoming and social to all those around him. Tony was loved, cherished, respected, and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family would like to send out a special thank you to the PSW's, palliative nurses, the staff of St. Peter's Hospital, and all extended caregivers for their compassion and care they showed Tony and his family.

Bay Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, at Bay Gardens Funeral Home (947 Rymal Road East. Hamilton, ON) from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. Funeral Mass will begin at 11am on Friday, January 12th, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (620 Rymal Road East. Hamilton, ON.) followed by entombment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (254 Garner Road West. Ancaster, ON). Donations in Antonio's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
