Barbara Smith Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara Smith (Hamilton, Ontario), who passed away on March 5, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Smith; her parents, Thomas Nugent and Irene Nugent; her parents-in-law, Arthur and Mary Smith; and her siblings, John Nugent (Celestine) and Eileen Burns (Pat).
She is survived by: her children, Murray (Sheila), Blair (Jo-Ann), Theresa (Glenn Sheldon), Arthur (Anna), Jim (Lisa) and Kevin (Kelly); her grandchildren, Michael, Anne Marie (Ammar), Aimee (Vince), Mathew, Brent, Kara (Vince), Mark, Dayna (Daniel), Allyson, Abigail, Connor, Jillian and Brendan; and her siblings, Tom Nugent (Pat), Brian Nugent (Marianne), Karen Ames (Andy) and Anne Martin (Larry). She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, on Sunday, March 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the P. X. Dermody Funeral Homes - King St (1919 King St E, Hamilton, ON L8K1V9). A prayer was held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Blessed Lord Parish (400 Pottruff Rd N, Hamilton, ON L8H2M4).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada, The Diabetes Society of Canada and the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
