He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyall Sprung and Doreene Sprung; his siblings, David, Ralph, Peter and Elizabeth Christner; and his siblings-in-law, Kiyoko Fujimoto, Fumiko Marubashi, Susumo Nagai and Henry Isao Nagai.
He is survived by: his wife Hannah; his children, Anne Sprung (Doug MacCallum), Kate Sprung (Chris Delaney), Connor MacCallum and Carol Coatham (Ken); his grandchildren, Kain and Nolyn; his sister Margaret Colmer (Larry); his siblings-in-law, Audrey McNeely (John), Dee Sprung, Ruth Sato and David Christner; Michael. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Donald made a significant contribution to numerous areas of Physics, starting with Nuclear Physics before working in Bohmian Quantum Mechanics, and then shifting his interests toward Solid State Physics and Photonic Crystals.
