With sadness, we share the passing of Francesco Merla of Hamilton, Ontario. Francesco, born on January 3, 1941, passed away on August 17, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Matteo Merla and Emanuela Merla; his parents-in-law, Michele and Filomena Ercolino; his siblings, Salvatore, Antonetta and Grazia; his brothers-in-law, Salvatore Cassano and Terenzio Mostacci; and his nephew Pat Mostacci.
He is survived by: his wife Angela; his children, Emanuela DiGiovanni (Frank) and Matteo Merla (Nikki); his grandchildren, Nicolas, Isabella and Lucas; and his sisters, Maria Cassano, Giovanna Mostacci and Filomena Merla. He is also survived by many family members and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bay Gardens Funeral Home – Hamilton Chapel (947 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton, ON L8W3M2). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Our Lord Parish (280 Limeridge Rd W, Hamilton, ON L9C2V2). A burial was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (254 Garner Rd W, Ancaster, ON L9G3K9).
