He was predeceased by: his wife Greta Vander Meulen; his siblings, Harmen and Gerda Vander Meulen; and his in-laws, Jitske, Ed Huizinga, Ann Kroll, Sidney, Gerda Vander Meulen, Mac, Catherine Vander Meulen, Ralph, Shirley Vander Meulen, Jack Tigchelaar, Bill Denbok, George Tigchelaar and David Tigchelaar.
He is survived by: his children, Herman, Evelyn, Ann, Andy Defreitas, Karl, Audrey, Benjamin, Grace, David, Karen, Fran and Andrew Damm; and his siblings-in-law, Teuni Vander Meulen, Margaret Tigchelaar, Flora DenBok, Grace Tigchelaar, Joanne and Allan Heidbuurt.
