He was predeceased by: his former wife Catherine "Renee"; and his siblings, Margaret "Greta" Taylor and Brian McNab. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn; his children, Gillian Christian (John) and Iain McNab (Alison); his stepchildren, Michael Bown (Carlotta) and Lee Ann Crombie; his son-in-law Adam Crombie; and his grandchildren, Conor, Shea, Ty, Calvin and Emma.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope in Gilbert's memory would be greatly appreciated.
