He was predeceased by: his mother Gladys Kenney; and his sister-in-law Cheryl Duke (Brian Duke). He is survived by: his wife Wendy Elizabeth; his sons, Scott (Lina) and Shawn (Amanda); his grandchildren, Jacob, Kali Mitges, Drew Thompson, Dr. Ali Pauhl, Ryley, John Broc Picard, Casey and Hayden; his brother Ed (Ann); and his brothers-in-law, Gordy Pell (Jody) and Brad Pell (Nancy).

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St Peter's Hospital in Hamilton in Jack's memory.
