She was predeceased by: her grandmother Jeltje (Julie) Dekker (Sterenberg); her parents, Jan Derk Sterenberg and Anja Sterenberg (Wiersinga); her husband Luit Dekker (Lloyd); her grandson Robert VanderGaag (Bob); and her siblings, Anna Sterenberg, Tiet (Harm Sietsema), Rennie (Lammert Spoelma), Aagje (Stoffer Bos), Tienie (Johan Kruit), Henk (Jo Sterenberg) and Jan (Ge Sterenberg).
She is survived by: her children, Anja (Bill VanderGaag), Bouke (Rieks Pilon), Astrid (Emko Boelkens) and Bernie Dekker; her grandchildren, Virgina (Dave), Tim (Marcy), Dan (Katherine), Sarah (Drew), Tiemen, Michelle (Fred), Louren (Mannie), Niels (Marcia), Wolter (Marianne) and Mark; her siblings, Piet Sterenberg, Mannie VanderWal and Bertus Sterenberg; and her sister-in-law Leah Sterenberg.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Eben-Ezer Canadian Reformed Church (483 McNaughton Ave E, Chatham, ON N7L5C4). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 7th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Garden Lane Cemetery (181 7th Concession Rd, Hamilton, ON L0R1V0).
