He was predeceased by: his siblings, John, Cor, Hans and Marieke; and his parents, Abraham and Margreet.
He is survived by: his significant other Sjoukje Hadewey VanderWey (Sharon); his children, Abraham (Jennifer), Jane (Bill Kooistra), Marietta (Rod DeKoter) and Alden (Heather); his grandchildren, Alanna, Philip, Stephanie, Leah (Ryan), Joel (Julie), Meghan (Andrew), Adam, Simon, Elias, Raymon and James; his sisters-in-law, Joan Drost and Ank VanderWey; Rielle, Cole, Inara and Axel.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that memorial donations be made in his memory to Lifewater.ca, a Canadian Christian charity drilling for life giving water and providing sanitation and dignity to needy communities, or L'Arche London, http://www.larchelondon.ca, "sharing life together in community, and serving people with intellectual disabilities in homes and participation programs since 1997".
