He was predeceased by: his wife Meta; and his parents, Christian Ziesmann and Matilda Ziesmann. He is survived by: his siblings, Erich, Rudolf, Ewald, Hugo, Martha Fenske, Else Reiss and Irma Wegner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
