He was predeceased by : his wife Susan Carol (Magee); and his brother Ray. He is survived by : his friend Loretta Desbien; his children, Elgie Jr. La Butte (Dawn Blackburn), Robert La Butte (Tracey), Susanne La Butte and Sandra La Butte (Janet Sercombe); and his siblings, Nelson La Butte (June), Bernice, Nora and Geraye. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre.
