Geert Smit Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Geert Smit in Hastings, Ontario, who passed away on January 24, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Richt Jan and Jantien Smit; and his siblings, Trijn Hamhuis-Smit and Jake Smit. He is survived by : his children, Richard Smit (Anita), John Smit (Elaine), Janet Smit and Alice Hicks (Ken); his stepdaughters, Sharon Ennenga and Teresa Tucker; and his sister Jantke "Janny" Oldenkamp of Holland. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held at Maranatha Church on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 a. m. with the family receiving friends at the Church from 9:45 a. m. until 10:45 a. m. Those wishing to attend the visitation and/or the service are required to preregister by emailing rsvp@steelefuneralhome. ca or by calling 613-968-2273 between 9 & 5.
