She was predeceased by : her brother William Brown (Bill); and her parents, Walter Brown and Emma Brown. She is survived by : her children, Robert Tapscott (Sheila), Bev Tapscott (Beth) and Heather Benson (Tim); her siblings, Eileen Watson, Lloyd Brown and Mae Brown; her grandchildren, Evan (Amanda), Morgan (Brandon), Michael (Kristen), Ashley (Jesse), Lyndsey (Devin) and Mitchell; and her great grandchildren, Stella, Emily, Peyton, Emma, Audrey, Harvey, Kay Garvey and Floyd Bennett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In memory of Shirley, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
