She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorothy (Fred Smithson) and Ron (Wanda Hedden); her grandmother Iva Hedden; and her siblings-in-law, Tracey Stire, Kenneth Smale, Otto Smale and Leonard Smale.

She is survived by: her husband Paul W. Smale; her stepchildren, Jeff and Ashley Smale; her grandchildren, Colby, Layla and Remy Smale; and her siblings, Jeff (Rhonda Hedden), Larry Stire, Debbie (John Arnold), Mike (Donna Smith), Brenda Smale, Ruth (John Erb), Sylvia Smale and Shirley Southcott (Harry Plantenga). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
