He was predeceased by: his wife Lynda Johnston; his parents, Doris Johnston and Lloyd Johnston; and his sister Jan Marshall. He is survived by: his sibling-in-law Gerry Galbraith of Port Elgin; and his sibling's children, Jamie Kuhl (Dale), Jennifer Armstrong (Ryan) and Scott McDougald (Samantha). He is also survived by his family and many friends.
