He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosa Kowal and Ted Kowal. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth (Van Altena); his daughters, Lisa (Curtis), Katharine and Emma (Matt); his brother Erik (Kim); and his grandchildren, Austin, River, Taylor and Keenan.
