He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Wilson and Ethel Wilson; and his wife Karin Wilson. He is survived by: his son Mark; his daughter-in-law Lisa; his grandsons, Brady and Spencer; his sister Anne Duggan (John Duggan); and his sibling's children, Meaghan, Billy and John Pat. He is also survived by nieces and nephew.

“I was fortunate enough to work on Tom's team of 3 at Gosford PS in the late 70s. Not only was Tom an excellent teacher but he and his team did so much extra activities with those student in the Jane Finch area. including many trips to the Cedar Glen Outdoor Education Centre, Except for a few a computer workshops I lost contact with Tom until this past summer. Through the Retreads he obtained my phone number. We had a couple of long catch-up and had hoped to get together this coming summer.”
