He was predeceased by : his parents-in-law, Wray and Olive Johnston; his sibling Francis (Frank); his uncle James; his aunt Lily White; and his cousin Charles Hoggett.

He is survived by : his wife Faye Louise; his cousin Maxine (Dave Rodgers); his children, Jerry Middleton, Kevin Middleton (Debby Heard), Louise Middleton, Debbie McLean, Teresa Gill (Mark) and Michael Middleton (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Tyler, Rick, Monique, Morgan and Jordan; his great grandchild Callie; and his extended family, Barbara (late John Bergs), Sandra (Robert Thomas), John Wray Johnston (Susan), Jacqueline (Dave Corp), Susan (Doug Lywood), Harold Johnston (Bev), Roger Johnston (Lynn), Pauline (Perry Crowder) and Pam Johnston (Howard Nesbitt). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
