He was predeceased by: his son Adam Hemsted; his parents, Stephen Hemsted and Vera Hemsted Ogilvie; and his siblings, Yvonne Zurowski (late Ted), Douglas Ogilvie (late Shelagh) and David Ogilvie.

He is survived by: his wife Sheila; his son Stephen Jason Hemsted (Tara); his grandchildren, Sunny, Priya and Asha Hemsted; his siblings, Diana Auerbah (Munroe), Patricia St. Germain (Ross), Diane Milne (late Rob), Bonnie Goodsell and Peter Ogilvie (Betty); and his brother-in-law Craig MacDonald (Gail). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Kemptville District Hospital.
