Matthew Michael Lucas Curnew Obituary
Matthew Michael Lucas Curnew was born on November 16, 1986 in Collingwood, and passed away on May 22, 2026 at the Ottawa Heart Institute.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother; Darlene Azzopardi, his stepfather; Paul, his sister; Madina Spencer and his aunt and uncle; Susan and Danny MacDuffie. He also leaves behind his cousins, Mardi, Dustin and Hope. Matthew was predeceased by his father; Reginald Curnew, his brother; Johny Decosta and his uncle; Joseph Andrews.
Matthew was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother and friend, whose presence touched many lives. He is survived by his beloved wife; Alexis Gentleman, and his cherished sons, Kailub, Gavin and Joey Curnew who were the centre of his world.
Matthew had a green thumb, loved fishing and found peace and happiness out on the water enjoying the quiet moments nature provided. Whether tending to his garden or casting a line, Matthew appreciated life's simple pleasures and the freedom of the outdoors.
Above all Matthew had a big heart. He was the kind of a person who cared deeply for the people around him and was always willing to help someone in need. His kindness, generosity, sense of humour and love for his family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation and services will be held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe on Saturday May 30, 2026 from 11:30 am until the time of service in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
