He was predeceased by : his wife Betty McFarlan; his parents, John McFarlan and Annabelle McFarlan (Stanley); his siblings, Orland McFarlan, Muriel Jeans (George), Audrey McFarlan and Eleanor Gillam (Bill); and his siblings-in-law, Jack Beemer, Joseph Elliott, Edith Simpson (Donald), Jim Elliott (Donna), Bert Elliott (Marj) and Bill Elliott.

He is survived by : his sons, Andy and Steve McFarlan (Jo); his grandchildren, John (Tracy), Amanda (Adam), Anna (Chad), David (Valeria) and Scott; his great grandchild Jones; his sister Shirley; and his sister-in-law Betty Elliott. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
