He was predeceased by : his sister Dinny Day; and his parents, Charles F. W. and Janet Burns. He is survived by : his sister Joan Addison; his grandsons, Herbert D., Margarite Burns, Cairine Wilson and Norman Wilson; his brother Denton; his wife Sue; and his stepdaughters, Kate Bahen and Tracey McCowen (Tommy Barlow).

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Burns Scholarship at Trinity College School would have been Michael's wish.
