He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Matthews and Patricia Matthews; and his brothers, Perry, Darryl and Sean.

He is survived by: his daughter Elsbeth; his grandsons, Liam and Sam; his son Ian (Shannon); his grandsons, Auryn and Jace; his son Ethan; and the mother of his children Terry.
