He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Bastiaan; his wife Toinette Smouter Stassen; his children, Bart (Alanna), Mariah, Michael, Laurence (Mary Ann), Tegan, Nia, Phoebe, Christa (Brian), Owen and Isla; his siblings, Bill, Henk (Janny) and Pauline (Don); and also, Phyllis and Agnes. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
