She was predeceased by: her father Carl Kilian; and her brother Michael. She is survived by: her mother Lilo Kilian; her husband Peter Sims; her children, Danielle, Andrew and Matthew (Tim); her sister Barbara; and her siblings-in-law, Emile, Jeff (Katherine), Susan and Lorraine.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gaby's memory may be made to U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario).
