He was predeceased by: his siblings, Mary Jean Rumball and Donald Kennedy; and his parents, Cecil Kennedy and Jessie Kennedy (Donaldson). He is survived by: his wife Ruth (Hermosa); and his children, David, Andrew (Yukiko), Marta, Peter (Jennifer), Sarita (Pavel), Samuel (Laurie) and Joseph (Christina). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Due to restrictions currently in place for COVID-19, a celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
