It is with sadness that the passing of James Ian Downie (Kingston, Ontario) is shared. James Ian, born on September 30, 1928, passed away on July 27, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
James Ian will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honour James Ian by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though James Ian is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. James Ian’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Kelly; and his parent Scottish. He is survived by: his wife Jill; his children, Robert (Kim), John Downie (Melinda), Andrew and Helena Debnam (Laeeque); and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aidan, Colin and Jake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ian's name to the Canadian Cancer Society and The AFC (formerly known as the Actors' Fund of Canada).
