Stan Josey wrote a sympathy message

“Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. My condolences to all of his family, friends and the people of Kingston.. I am one of the many Journalists who benefited from Bill's influence and tutelage. He hired me from a small Ontario newspaper to be the Gannanoque bureau chief for the Whig. I Was 18 at the time and benefited greatly from his quiet and polite wisdom and encouragement. I had a 42 year career and retired from The Toronto Star. Rest in peace Bill. Stan Josey”
