He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Katherine; his children, Simon (Kathleen) and Alison (Warren); his granddaughter Eva Wheeler-Stout (Ian); his brother Geoffrey (Pamela); and his parents, Charles and Alice Wheeler.
He was recognized in 1994 by The Aluminium Federation in the United Kingdom for his outstanding contribution to the U.K. aluminum industry, and in 1999 in the United States as the recipient of The Aluminum Association's first annual Marlan Boultinghouse Service Award for his efforts to promote the use of aluminum in automotive applications.
