She was predeceased by: her parents, John McVity and Marjory McVity (Hill) of Toronto; her husband Douglas "Skip" James Knapp; and her son Donald. She is survived by: her children, Susan (Tom), Brian (Terri), Kerry (René) and Peter (Kim); her grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremie), Owen and Emma; her great grandchildren, Ayva and Isla; and also Skip.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michal may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
