She was predeceased by: her parents, Consuelo Chiong and Angel Chiong; and her siblings, Dr. Miguel Chiong, Eugenio Chiong, Eduviges Chiong, Enrique Chiong and Emma Chiong.

She is survived by: her son Curtis Farquharson Pineiro (Nicola); her grandchildren, Alexander, Iona and Ada Pineiro (late Alberto); her great grandchild Alain Diaz; her grandsons, Enrique and Javier (Denise); her nieces and nephews, Cuba and Miami; and her friend Sally Anne Farquharson.

As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Kingston General Hospital or the MS Society, in Mirta's memory.
