He was predeceased by: his wife Bernadette Filson; his parents, Gordon Filson and Ada Filson; his brother Bill Filson (Mary) of Gananoque; and his sister-in-law Judy Johnston (Alan) of London.

He is survived by: his daughter Stephanie Filson (Cody); his son-in-law Todd Brennan; his sibling Ardeth Dodge (Donald) of Nova Scotia; his siblings-in-law, Pat Watts of Oakville, Mary Bridgen (late Tom) of Kingston, Sheila Simmons (Ron) of Waterloo, John O'Connell (late Vonnie) of Kingston and Peter O'Connell (Aileen) of Toronto; and his friends, Bill Grier and Myrna Alport. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to Lung Association of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
