He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Henry and Ruby Downes; and his sister Ruby (Owen Amundsen). He is survived by : his siblings, Vera (Mel Holden) and Stanley (Mary); his wife Kathryn Downes; his children, Heather (David Skarsgard) of Calgary, Karen (Peter Heysel) of Peterborough and Stephen (Claire Todd) of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Chris Heysel (Breanne), Jack Heysel (Ruby Komisar), Matthew Skarsgard, Fiona Heysel (Alli Christensen), Peter Skarsgard (Olivia Quinn), Liam Downes and Sarah Downes; his brother-in-law Allan Thorn (late Patricia); and his children, Kathryn and Walter. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
