She was predeceased by: her husband Garnet Mertz; her parents, Robert Gaffan and Maria Gaffan; and her siblings, Helen Gaffan, Jim Gaffan (late Janene) and Paul Gaffan.

She is survived by: her children, Mike Mertz (Cory), Colleen Jacobs (Jim) and Stephanie Caron (Cathy); her grandchildren, Leighton, Lucas (Erica), Josh (Carlie), Lindsay (Glenn) and Lauren; her great grandchildren, Aiden and Owen; and her siblings, Kay Gaffan, Morris Gaffan (Teresa), Joyce Terron (late Rick), Ted Gaffan (late Sue), Rose Hanson (Norm), Charles Gaffan (Maddie) and Martha Gee (Dave). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. John de Brebeuf Catholic Church (67 Main St E, Kingsville, ON N9Y1A1). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
