He was predeceased by: his wife Doris Cowls (Viau); his parents, William J. Cowls and Phyllis Cowls (Campbell); his son Marc David Cowls; and his brother John.
He is survived by: his daughter Christine (Jeff Moores) of Kitchener; his granddaughters, Jillian and Audrey; and his siblings, Bill (Sylvia Cowls) and Suzanne (Cameron Kitchen).
