He was predeceased by: his child Ryan; his parents, Jack and Viola (Grills); his father-in-law Arnold Rea; his niece Deanne Cote; and his brother-in-law Dale Drake.
He is survived by: his spouse Beverley Short (Rea); his children, Jason and Tracey (Huber); his grandsons, Cody, Jack and Adam; his siblings, Joan Magahay (Jack), Betty Cote (Mike) and Ron Short (Gloria); his sister-in-law Bonnie Drake (late Dale); his mother-in-law Queenie Rea (late Arnold); his siblings' children, Vicki Magahay (Brent, family: Lynda Kemp, Rob, David, Jared Short) and Joleen Thomas-Humpheries (Stuart, family: Jeremy Thomas); and his pet Hank.
