He was predeceased by: his spouse Hendrika; and his daughter-in-law Maria. He is survived by: his grandchildren, John (Linda), Lida Cameron (Bruce), Leo (Rosalin), Jack (Jo-Anne) and Margaret Lanteigne (Paul). He is also survived by grandchildren, three siblings, extended family.
