He was predeceased by: his parents, Ada Townsend and Bert Townsend; his parents-in-law, Maggie and Patrick McIntyre; and his brother-in-law Sam McIntyre.
He is survived by: his spouse Isa; his child Tracey Armstrong; his grandson Matthew Armstrong; his siblings, Michael Townsend (late Joan), Eileen Pay (late Ken), Shaun Townsend (Jane) and Paul Townsend (Emma); and his siblings-in-law, Hammy McIntyre (Pam), Margaret Buchanan (late Robbie) and Drew McIntyre (Margaret). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
