She was predeceased by: her parents, Ion Purkar and Ljana Purkar; her siblings, Panta Purkar and Maria Pekurar; her aunt Maria Muncan (Iosa); and her uncle Zarie Purkar (Ana).

She is survived by: her husband John Barbu; her sister Ana Rosu (Tom); her siblings-in-law, Sophie-Nicole MacLean (Glenn) and Tom Barbu (Karen "Mouse"); her sibling's children, Ilija Rosu, Nikola Rosu (Cara), Jonel Purkar (Dragana), Marija Muncan (Dorel), Giorgio Pekurar (Mirjana), Albina Zenklusen (Marius), Summer-Skyye MacLean, Dailin Barbu, Jennifer Torgensen (Richard), Christina McLamb (Barry), Michael Muncan, Steve Vasa Jr. Muncan (Patricia) and Christopher Muncan (Marina); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Doris Muncan, Luka Pekurar, Mateo Pekurar and Cristian Zenklusen; and her cousins, John Muncan (Victoria), Steve Vasa Muncan Sr. (Viorika), Zarie Purkar and Tima Purkar.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, February 27th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home Ltd. (507 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON N2B2A5). A prayer was held on Thursday, February 26th 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 27th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 27th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the Woodland Cemetery (119 Arlington Blvd, Kitchener, ON N2A2G8).
