He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie; his parents, Ella Batte and Frank Batte; his brothers, Frank and Ken Batte; and his sister-in-law Helen MacGillivray.

He is survived by: his sister Margaret Michel; his children, Paul, Marilyn (Sven), Sue and Karen; his grandsons, Lochlann and Tighe; and his siblings-in-law, Dr. William Hipwell and Lynn Hipwell. He is also survived by his cousins, nieces and nephews, and his longtime friends.
